Listen to the third official album by the French duo Arom.

These songs were recorded in 2002-2004. However, the duo broke up and the songs - mastered at the legendary Abbey Road Studios - went into oblivion after a while and were not published. Twenty years later, Label Cantroll releases two full-lengths: the eponymous Arom and A La Vie. This was made possible thanks to a label listener who spent a year looking for writers, convincing them to officially publish the songs and collecting all the source material.

Their music is trip-hop and indie pop, created with groovebox and synths, constantly going into different sounds - trip-rock, soul or acid jazz. The main thing is the vocals in French and English, somewhat reminiscent of Björk. The authors of the project are Dominique for the music and Caroline for the vocals. The name Arom is a combination of the letters of the names (cARoline and dOMinique).

"I got acquainted with Arom in my favorite column on Label Cantroll's VK page, where they published the debut album. At first I liked the cover and the intriguing name of the band, but after listening - it became clear that this is one of the best albums I've ever listened to. I wanted to find more music. I found a piece of video with an old recording of the concert on the Ukrainian TV channel M1. I made a 4K remaster and decided to show the result to the authors as a thank you. And here begins a real detective story. The band is extremely unknown. Only two LP-albums, and the second one disappeared from the public domain in 2011 as a result of the MySpace collapse. I had to write in general to everyone who was in the Facebook community with a request to help contact the artists, show me my remaster and find out the fate of the songs.

Several people responded and helped me find the singer, Caroline, including her cousin by happy coincidence. Thus the first contact was established.

Later, the author of the music, Dominique, was also found. He did not answer for a long time. There was nothing to do but keep searching for the songs myself and hope for a miracle. On the Discogs page I wrote to all five owners of the CD and received an answer from one fan. He still had a copy of the album. I was satisfied for a while, but the thirst for new music and the sadness of not having it anymore made me search for more information and live recordings. A YEAR LATER, Dominique's answer came. We had a productive conversation and he promised to send us the second album in good quality.

Another six months passed. Dominique sends me the master versions: the complete second album, the lost songs from MySpace and the unreleased tracks. After telling this story to Mark Shishlev, we decided to revive the project: draw up documents, make artcovers and officially release two LP releases one year apart".
